Medical Services

***ATTENTION***

Welcome to Student Health Services! I am writing to inform you that Student Health Services - Clinic will not be able to accommodate any students for medical issues until we secure a Supervising Physician to oversee our nursing staff, as required by state and federal mandates. Please be aware that the timeline for reopening The Clinic for medical issues remains uncertain and could span from weeks to potentially months. We understand the inconvenience this may cause and assure you that we are working diligently to fill this crucial position with a qualified and licensed individual. We hope to resume normal operations as soon as possible. We are excited to inform you that The Clinic will remain available for Mental Health Counseling.Until the time The Clinic reopens, all medical concerns should be redirected to Santa Barbara Neighborhood Clinics, The MedCenter, Urgent Care facilities, or the Cottage Hospital Emergency Department. In case of an emergency please contact Campus Safety and/or 911, if necessary. If an injury or accident takes place on campus, please address the concern immediately by seeking care for the injured party and at a later date or time stop by The Clinic to complete insurance paperwork. If you have any specific questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to us at: HealthandWellness@pipeline.sbcc.edu or 805-730-4098.      Thank you for your understanding and cooperation during this transitional period.

Some people qualify to apply outside the enrollment period. Qualifying events include life changes like: getting divorced, married; having a baby or adopting; losing coverage because you turned 26, left your job, or your job benefits were reduced. For more information about whether you can apply for health insurance outside of the Open Enrollment Period, see resources listed below.

If you qualify for Medi-Cal (making $16,105 or less for a single adult; $32,913 for a family of 4), you can apply at any time.

Having insurance, and a local primary care provider (physician or nurse practitioner) makes it easier to succeed in school. Data about college student success supports this statement. That is why the Student Health Services staff is dedicated to assisting you in enrolling in health insurance. We do this in a number of ways.
